Basic rule In order for you to report back a page, it must contain at least 1 KByte of text, or a picture of at least 50,000 pixels size, or sound of at least 1 minute duration, or video of at least 30 seconds duration. Combining elements You may combine elements to meet the rule. E.g. a page that contains 500 Byte of text and a picture of 25,000 pixels is eligible for reporting as well. Requirements for information spread over multiple pages Pages that are meant to be read in successive order have higher minimum information requirements. Page 1 still has the normal requirement, but each additional page can only be reported back if the total information added up to this point is at least 5 times the basic minimum requirement (like 5 KByte of text, or a picture of 250'000 pixels size).
Elements that count towards the requirement Elements that the author has created especially for this page, e.g. the page title, lead in text, the main text, pictures, sounds and videos. In order to be counted towards the minimum information requirement, an element may also not be published on a freely accessible part of your site, or reside on another non-free page where it is also considered as counting towards the minimum information requirement. Elements that don't count towards the requirements Page design and decorative elements. Navigation elements. Advertising both for foreign sites and your own site. Links for "further reads". Way of measurement for text The information is counted on the visual representation of the page. Every character counts as one Byte. This means that html tags, including formatting options, are ignored. Way of measurement for pictures The information is counted on the visual representation of the picture. This means that any borders or decorative elements not unique for this page are not eligible for counting. 50,000 pixels is the equivalent of a picture 200 pixels wide and 250 pixels high. Way of measurement for sound and video The length is counted on the experienced representation of the media. This means that silence and blank video don't count against the total length. The artistic use of silence and blank video is exempted from this rule. Value of 1 KByte For simplicity reasons, we refer to 1 KByte as 1000 Bytes. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
